2011 GoExpo

In partnership with the Community Sustainability Program Committee (CSPC) and the City of Winston-Salem, the Resource Center put on GoExpo, a one-day event at the Benton Convention Center on 1 October 2011.  Following Mayor Allen Joines' initiative to reduce Winston Salem's GHG emissions,  green organizations from throughout North Carolina celebrated sustainability and the green economy.  Last year’s GoExpo drew roughly 5,000 people.  This year did not disappoint.  Over 50 vendors displayed booths, while experts on recycled textiles and energy-efficiency ran workshops.  Modern Automotive facilitated test drives of the Chevy Volt and Nissan Leaf, and visitors toured a green office replete with LED lighting and the best in sustainable building materials.  The event provided a forum for people from all walks of life to go, to learn, to collaborate, and to ask questions about sustainable living.
